Joe Peacock was born in Detroit, Michigan but moved to Texas while still an infant and spent this early years in West Texas. The Great Depression prompted his family's move back to Detroit, where he studied art at Wayne University. However, Texas was in his blood forever, and he returned at every opportunity to do ranchwork in Mason County. His admiration and respect for the working cowhorse stemmed from his time spent in Texas and fueled his career as a fine artist. Painting with both brush and palette knife, his subjects often included the horse in it's working environment, scenes from ranch life and occaisonal rodeo scenes. Joe's work was mainly sold in San Antonio galleries, but because it was so well liked and well recieved it has found it's way into collections across the country. A touch of Texas has even found it's way into a Bavarian castle, where a painting of a herding scene of Hereford cattle by Peacock graces the walls.
